Stratford Skatepark

For this project, I was responsible for User Experience, Wireframing, Mockups, Graphic Design, and Research.

For one of my term-ending projects, I was tasked with researching a public place and designing something to improve the user experience for the individuals that frequent that location. I decided to use the Stratford Skatepark that had just recently been renovated as it was receiving a large influx of traffic and would provide a substantial amount of data for me to work with.

After several weeks of research, I discovered that one of the main points of frustration was the large divide in skill between individuals that made it difficult for people to interact with each other because the less experienced users were intimidated. In order to minimize the effect that this was having, I created an app prototype that allowed individuals with more experience (or skill) to teach and mentor the newer members through a social platform. The app removes the effects of intimidation by minimizing the need for an initial face-to-face interaction. By building confidence and creating friendships through the app, the community becomes more inclusive and accessible for all.
